Support brokers
The steady hand behind self-direction
Support brokers help Idahoans with developmental disabilities and their families plan, budget, and direct their own services. It is meaningful, demanding work, and it deserves real support.
Who brokers supportAdults who self-direct
Adults with developmental disabilities who choose the self-direction option. They decide who supports them, when, and how, with a broker helping them plan and manage it all.
Children & their families
Parents of children with developmental disabilities who choose Family Directed Services. Brokers help families build a plan and manage their child’s budget and supports.
Young adults in transition
Youth moving from children’s services into adult services. Brokers help make that transition smooth, so supports continue without a gap.

Common questions
Who is Resourced Support for?
We serve Idaho Support Brokers, and only brokers: the professionals who help people with developmental disabilities and their families self-direct their services. Our training, tools, and financial assistance are for brokers themselves.
Is Resourced Support part of the Idaho Department of Health and Welfare?
No. We are an independent nonprofit. For official program rules, qualification, and re-qualification decisions, please contact IDHW directly.
How do I request financial assistance?
Use our contact form and choose "Financial assistance request." We will follow up to learn more.
What kinds of expenses can financial assistance cover?
Job-required software, hardware, and other items a support broker needs to do the work. Brokers are W-2 employees of each family they serve, so these costs usually aren’t provided by an employer and generally can’t be written off as a business expense.
Do your trainings count toward re-qualification?
Our sessions are designed around support broker duties and include certificates of completion. Check the latest IDHW requirements for how training hours are documented.
